ASCOS gains added impetus with EASA workshop.

30/4/2013

The ASCOS partners were invited by EASA to attend a dedicated workshop on the 19 of April in order to provide deeper insight of project activities and further enhance collaboration on the various research topics within ASCOS which are of interest to EASA.

The results of ASCOS' WP1 which defined and evaluated innovative approaches to certification of aerospace products was presented to EASA. From the exchange of ideas and discussions a number of suggestions were put forward to the ASCOS partners to further develop the work in WP1 and establish closer collaborative efforts with EASA.

Another topic which attracted debate was the development of Safety Performance Indicators for the Performance Scheme, a central part of WP2 which aims to define a present-day baseline risk picture of the commercial aviation system. EASA's inputs were again very valuable in this regard and will be considered very carefully as this WP progresses further.

The participants recognised the benefit and importance of holding such joint workshops between EASA and the ASCOS team and decided to organise a repeat event in the near future.
